Florida Medicare Advantage Plans & Supplemental Plans (Medigap)
Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C)
Advantage Plans are NOT part of Original Medicare. Part C known as Medicare Advantage (MA) are alternative plans that are privately run and comply with original Medicare benefits but have ancillary benefits including Vision, Dental, Hearing and some offer wellness components (i.e. Fitness facility Memberships) which original Medicare does not include at this time except under specific circumstances. Medicare Advantage plans also can include a prescription drug component instead of having to get a separate Part D plan (MAPD). These plans may have premiums, deductibles and cost sharing as part of the plan. Many major carriers offer Advantage plans for those who are enrolled in original Medicare parts A and B. Premiums, Deductibles and Cost sharing vary.

Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap)
A Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policy helps pay some of the health care costs that Original Medicare doesn't cover, like:
- Copayments
- Coinsurance
- Deductibles
Medigap policies are sold by private companies.
Some Medigap policies also cover services that Original Medicare doesn't cover, like medical care when you travel outside the U.S. If you have Original Medicare and you buy a Medigap policy, here's what happens:
- Medicare will pay its share of the Medicare-approved amount for covered health care costs.
- Then, your Medigap policy pays its share.
